A celebration of Western heritage, timeless craftsmanship, and the art of collaboration, The Pendleton brings together the distinctive hatmaking of Justin Great and the iconic textile traditions of Pendleton Woolen Mills. Rooted in the spirit of the American West, this design honors the history of two crafts through a contemporary interpretation of a classic Western silhouette.
Crafted from natural Ash-colored beaver felt, The Pendleton features a hand-shaped West Texas Punch-style open crown with a subtle mule kick indentation at the front, creating a distinctive profile with rugged character. Its wide Western brim is gently lifted along the sides, giving the hat a confident silhouette that balances traditional styling with modern refinement.
The defining feature is its exclusive collaborative hat band, handcrafted from authentic Pendleton blanket textiles. Each band showcases the rich patterns, colors, and woven textures that have made Pendleton an enduring symbol of American craftsmanship. Because each band is individually cut from the blankets, the placement of patterns and colors varies, making every hat uniquely its own.
The band is finished with a custom stitched circular leather keeper at the back of the crown. Both ends of the textile pass through opposite sides of the leather keeper, crossing through the center to create an adjustable closure that allows the band to be tightened securely around the hat. This thoughtful detail combines traditional materials with functional craftsmanship while adding a distinctive finishing touch.

ABOUT X RATINGS
The X system is a traditional method used within hatmaking to distinguish grades of fur felt. Because there is no universal X standard across manufacturers, X ratings should be understood within each maker’s collection. Within the Justin Great collection, higher X ratings represent progressively more premium felt, offering greater refinement, durability, performance, and luxury.

HOW DO I ADJUST MY HAT SIZE?
Adjustable Inner Band Instructions (For our wool hats only)
Flip up the sweatband to find the velcro tab + pull to tighten. Velcro the ribbon back in place to secure your desired fit. The adjustable band can adjust the hat down by up to 5 cm.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
How would you like to wear your flat brim hat?
Traditional:
This is the “traditional” style of wearing a hat.
1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).
2. Bring the measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it in the center of your forehead, or just above the eyebrows (depending on where you want your hat to sit). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.
Halo:
1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).
2. Bring the tape measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it at the top of your forehead (beginning of hairline). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.
Traditional vs. Halo
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Spot clean with a damp cloth.
- Brush lightly with lint brush or double-sided tape.
- Use a lint roller or double-sided tape to remove any excess dirt.
- For a softer hat, steam for 30 - 60 seconds. For further information on steaming, see below.
STEAMING INSTRUCTIONS
- Use steam from a apparel steamer, boiling pot of water, or iron (use caution).
- Please do not apply the actual iron to the hat - the steam will be enough to soften the hat so you can mould the brim flat.
- Steam the underside of the brim, flip it, lightly steam the top of the brim and then lay it on a clean, flat surface. Use your hands to push down on the brim and shape the hat to your desired shape. If you want to flatten the brim, press down on the brim or lay heavy flat books that will not transfer color on each side of the brim and let dry on a flat surface.
- All of our wool hats have a stiffening agent applied, to ensure that they maintain their shape. Steaming often reactivates this stiffening agent over time and can breathe new life into your hat.
HOW DO I STORE MY HAT?
- We recommend storing your hat in our hat boxes. This will keep your hat clean and preserve its shape. Store on a flat surface, or hang your hat on a nail/push pin on the wall for a decor forward storage method.
TIPS
- Please avoid prolonged periods of sun exposure to your hat to avoid colour fade and brim damage.
- Please do not get your hat wet. If it does get wet, we recommend towel drying immediately to remove any moisture or leaving in the sunshine to dry. Next follow the steam guide to reshape.
- It is natural to sweat in your hat. Hand washing the inner band is best to ensure your hat isn't submerged in water. Use a brush with minimal detergent to clean and allow to dry in an area with air flow or a fan. Use steam method if your hat mishaps during this process.
